Step 1. First, make sure the number 0 on the minir scale is the same as the 0 on the major scale.
Step 2. Then, place the object in between the jaws on the Vernier caliper and lock the clamp screw.
Step 3. Look at the minor scale where the 0 is located on the major scale.
Example: The number 0 on the minor scale is allign with the number 1.5 on the major scale.
Step 4. If the allignment is not allign with a number on the major scale, look at where on the minor scale the numbers allign with another number on the major scale.
Example: If the number is between 1.5 and 1.6, look at the minor scale numbers. If the number 5 alligns with one of the line on the major scale, the length of the object is 1.55
